Sea floor depth (driller's): 234 m DRF

Sea floor depth (logger's): 231.5 m WRF (MSS/HLDS/APS/HRLA/EDTC-B main run)

Total penetration:  592.5 m DRF (358.5 m DSF)

Total core recovered: 39 % of cored section

Oldest sediment recovered: Aptian-Albian

Lithology:  Claystone, carbonaceous mudstone, siltstone and sandstone, mudstone, coal

TOOL USED: , VSI (Versatile Seismic Imager).

The VSI-EDTC-B tool string was deployed after the HRLA/APS/HLDS/HNGS/EDTC-B tool string. In preparation for this run, the guns were deployed and the preliminary 1-hour marine mammal watch started, followed by the gun ramp-up procedure. The guns were tuned during the descent of the VSI in the hole, and a 60-m GR pass was recorded between 575 and 515 mWRF, to ensure a good depth-match with the previous run. The VSI reached total depth anf check-shots were acquired over seven stations, spaced 50 m apart, from 581.5 m to 281.5 mWRF. Each station was completed after stacking five good shots, except for the station at ~381.5 mWRF, where only three good shots could be recorded. In total, 71 shots were fired.

The logging data was recorded by Schlumberger in LDF/DLIS format. All processing, including first arrival picking and stacking, was performed by Schlumberger during Expedition 344S.

Additional information about the drilling and logging operations can be found in the expedition report. The BRG and Schlumberger logging reports are also included on the log DVD. For further questions about the VSI logs, please contact:
